These are cheaper than resistance pyrometer. These are very convenient, also, for measuring the temperature at one particular point in a piece of apparatus. These can follow the temperature changes with very little time lag, and are thus suitable for recording comparatively rapid changes. These work on the principle of thermo-couple, already explained.
