Force on a Current Carrying Kept in Magnetic Field

Force on a Current Carrying Kept in Magnetic Field Points : Force on a Current Carrying Kept in Magnetic Field Let us consider a conductor kept in between the poles of a magnet and ‘let the conductor carry a current into the paper as applying the corks crew rule, it is seen that the magnetic field around the conductor is clockwise; when this field is superimposed on the that due to the magnet, in the region above the conductor, the two fields assist each other, whereas in the region below, they oppose.
Since the magnetic lines of force tend to straighten out, a force is exerted on the conductor which makes it to move downwards. The force on the conductor can be obtained by equating the electrical energy supplied to the conductor to the mechanical energy produced due to its motion.
Let, under the action of the force F, the conductor move through a distance ds in a small time dt sec. Then the mechanical energy is
dWm = F ds joule
