Method of Soldering

Method of Soldering Points : Method of Soldering Before soldering first we prepared the joint. The insulation of the jointing conductor should be removed and next step is to clean the conductors carefully. The cleaning is usually done by scrapping with a knife, after that made the joint carefully. For solid jointing, is essential that the jointing portion is completely cleaned and no any particles are present on the jointing portion which may adhere.

For this purpose, flux is used. In soldering, a flux of some yoe is essential to make the soldering surface is cleaned. For same of non-electrical soldering acid is used as a flux. When we is acid for his purpose, it will react with the copper to form a new compound. Many typed of flux (paste) are available in market.

Broza is a flux which is available in the form of powder or lay. Rosin makes a good flux and rosin-core solder is entirely practical. Solder-iron is commonly used for soldering. It has a heavy copper bit riveted to an iron bolt.

It is also consists of a wooden handle or plastic handle. Soldering iron has two types, such as, simple soldering iron and electric solder iron. Now a day, an electric soldering iron is used frequently if a copper bit is used for soldering, keep it clean. Soldering iron is melted to solder and also heated the jointing surface. Apply the soldering copper bit directly - to the jointing surface.
It is recommended that the soldering is done on high temperature because on high temperature, when the solder is touched to the Conductor (not the soldering iron bit), it will melt completely and flow into every little space of the joint. If the soldering iron is not hot enough, it will increase the temperature of the conductor step by step or slowly. But practically, it is seen that much of the heat will flow away conductor and flow along the conductor, so it will not heated the jointing portion but also heated the insulation of the conductor and damage the insulation of the cable.

Therefore, it is recommended that the soldering iron bit is hot enough, so that it will heat the conductor quickly at the jointing portion. For large current cables, the soldering iron is not used for soldering the joints. For this purpose blow lamp or blow torch is used. We directly heated the jointing portion with blow lamp. Remember that the tip of the flame is the hottest soot there heat. In the inner cone of the flame. When jointing surface is hot enough, then we apply the solder on it. The solder will melting and spread through out the joint and fill the empty spaces of the joint.

Metal-pot is also used for large current cables. In this method the colder is heated in the metal-pot to a specified temperature, over a fire or on a special method. The jointing surface of the joint is covered with the flux and then melting solder is poured on it. The hot solder itself heated the joint. After completing a soldering process, the surface of the joint is covered with insulation tape.
