Armature Reaction
Armature Reaction
Points : Armature Reaction DC Generator
Armature reaction is the term used to describe the effects of the armature mmf on
the air-gap field. Armature mmf has definite effects on both the space distribution
of the air-gap flux and the magnitude of the net flux per pole. The flux
distribution affects the limits of successful commutation while the flux magnitude
affects the generated voltage and torque per unit of armature current. Modern
machines are usually equipped with additional magnetic poles and windings-inter-
poles and compensating windings-that oppose and neutralize the effects of armature
reaction.
