Wave Winding Points : Wave Winding In a simple lap winding all the coil sides which have emf induced in the same direction at any instant are connected in parallel by the brushes. In a simple wave winding, such coil sides are connected in series. The developed view of a V 4-pole double layer wave winding. The directions of emf are also shown. 1,2, 3, ... denote the upper coil sides and 1’, 2’, 3’,denote the lower coil sides. The brush positions are also shown. Irrespective of the number of poles, a wave winding has only two parallel paths.
