1. It may be necessary to supply power to a load more than that can be supplied by one generator.
2. It may be necessary to take a generator off-line for repair and maintenance without interrupting the power supply to the load.
3. In the event of a short circuit or fault in one of the generators, others would continue to supply to the loads.
