Series and Parallel Connection of Batteries or Cell

Series and Parallel Connection of Batteries or Cell Points : Series and Parallel Connection of Batteries or Cell We have already studied in this chapter that the cell is a device which converts chemical energy into electrical energy. A cell consists of two electrodes immersed in an electrolyte. Due to chemical actions opposite charges are developed at the electrodes. The electrodes serve as +ve and —ye terminals of the cell. Terminal voltage of a cell is 1.5 volt in case of dry cells and 2.1 volt in case of lead acid cells and 1.2 volt in nickel ion cells. In order to increase the terminal voltage or current, a number of cells are required to be connected in series or parallel. A cell is represented by the symbol.
