Digital Ammeter

Digital Ammeter Points : Digital Ammeter, Definition A meter which measures the value of unknown current with out pointer and scale, it displays the value of current in digits on a screen is called digital ampere meter (DAM)

As the DVM can be converted as voltmeter for measurement of resistance, just like this the DVM can be converted as ammeter for measurement of current (whose value is to be measured) is passed through a known resistance connected across the DVM. The voltage drops across this resistance are measured by DVM and displayed.
As shown in the fig (b) that the current is measured through all resistance from R1 to R4 which are connected in series. For low current the four resistances are used in eh circuit. For high current the low value of resistance is required in the circuit. The value of resistance is selected by rotating the selector switch.
