Fire Precautions

Fire Precautions Points :electrical fire safety precautions The precautions requited against fire vary from place to place, and plant to, plant to, plant to be protected. However, a few such precautions are given below:

(a) In a sub-station or switch room, fire extinguishers of the C.T.C. type should be provided to extinguish electric fires. Sand buckets should also be made available at all times.
(b) In a wood workshop or a textile mill, automatic water sprinkling system should be made available.
(c) To fight oil fires in case of very large transformers, automatic equipment should be provided.
(d) Carbon dioxide should be available through fire extinguishers in all thermal power stations.
Note C.T.C. type fire extinguishers are suitable for electric fires because they eliminate the possibility of giving electric shock, while soda foam types are suitable for non-electric fires.
