It is a simple instrument and has got advantage of giving reading free from errors due to change in temperature, waveform and magnitude of applied voltage provided the voltage is not too low to give appreciable amplitude of the vibrations. With in 5% change in normal voltage, the performance of this meter will not be affected. The meter depends for its indication on the mechanical resonance of thin flat steel reeds arranged alongside and, close to, an electromagnet as shown.
