Application of Rectifiers in Measuring Instruments
Points : Application of Rectifiers in Measuring Instruments
A moving coil permanent magnet type instrument with some rectifier arrangement may be used, for measurement
of audio-frequency alternating current so or voltages. These instruments are indispensable for measurements
in communication required for their operation is small enough to be within the capacities of the circuits.
The rectifier element usually consists of a germanium or silicon diode. Copper oxide and selenium
rectifiers have become obsolete, because they have small inverse voltage ratings and can handle only
limited voltage of order of 300V and a current rating of about 100mA. Low current silicon diode rectifiers
have a peak inverse voltage of up to 100V and a’ current rating of the order of about 500mA,
