Swinburne’s Test

Swinburne’s Test Points : Swinburne’s Test This is an indirect method of determining the efficiency of a motor by measuring the losses. In this method the iron and friction losses are determined by measuring the input to the machine on no-load, the machine being run as a motor at normal voltage and speed. Copper losses are calculated from measured values of the various resistances. This test is carried out for shunt machines.
